Starting from today, Kredex Energy Efficiency Consulting Centre (ESK) will carry out a two-week publicity campaign concerning energy efficiency “Put your House In Order!”

The main goal of the campaign is to increase the awareness of people living in apartment buildings concerning energy efficiency, drawing their attention to the fact that by renovating an apartment building one can significantly lower the heating expenses. Estonian buildings are mostly energetically inefficient. In our apartment buildings the annual average heat requirements are 200 kWh/m². In developed industrial countries with similar climate the number is smaller almost by half. Consequently we consume energy and pay for it significantly more. 75% of our housing fund comprises of multi-storied apartment buildings, where 75% of the population lives. In a situation where the cost of energy carriers is continuously increasing, the main effort should be directed towards improving the energy consumption and technical condition of houses, and the physical living environment (also interior climate) of the people.

Energy Efficiency Consulting Centre founded by KredEx is dealing with publicity activities concerning energy efficiency since year 2006. The Consulting Centre was established in co-operation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications with the goal to share free information with the inhabitants of apartment buildings concerning energy efficiency and to create a suitable environment in Estonia to improve the energy efficiency of houses.

In addition to the ourdoor, TV and radio advertising during the publicity campaign, the TV3 programme „Nurgakivi” on November, 8th deals with the topic of energy efficient renovation of apartment buildings and of the new energy-performance label. During the campaign some energy efficiency seminars are carried out also in Tartu, Võru, Paide, Narva and Viljandi.

Additional information on energy efficiency of apartment buildings can be found on the ESK website www.kredex.ee/esk, by phone 6 819 979, 6 819 954 or e-mail esk@kredex.ee.
