To solve the housing problems of the social risk-groups, 11 local municipalities received grants in the amount on 17.8 million Estonian kroons

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts approved the municipalities that receive grants for the year 2007 to increase the municipal-rental housing foundation. To solve the housing problems of the social risk-groups, 11 local municipalities received support in the amount on 17.8 million Estonian kroons.

Applications for the funds to solve the housing problems of social risk-groups were submitted by 38 local municipalities in the total amount of 74 million kroons. The applications of 9 municipalities were satisfied in full amount and the applications of 2 municipalities partially. 27 applications were not acceded. The largest grants were received by Pärnu City Government (5 million kroons) and Mäetaguse Rural Municipality Government (4.7 million kroons).

Social risk-groups are children and young people (up to 25 years of age) without parental care, disabled persons, elderly and senior persons, families with many children and young families, tenants of the houses that have been restituted to legal owners, persons, who are released from custodial institutions and probationers, whom the local municipality considers necessary to accommodate at the municipal-rental building.

KredEx has supported local municipalities in the amount of 81.4 million kroons since the year 2003. The support of KredEx to increase the municipal-rental housing foundation, allows the local municipalities to cover up to 50% of the purchasing, building or renovation prices of the rental houses meant for target groups.
